The Principality of Cariati was established by His late Royal Highness Prince Vittorio Emanuele, Head of the Royal House of Italy and son of the last King of Italy, H.M. Umberto II, in 2021, under the patronage of Princess Marie Elisabeth de Balkany, the sister of Prince Vittorio Emanuele, in favor of
His Highness Michael Corey Chan.

His Highness is a People Leader and  the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Estonia in San Diego County, CA & Clark County, NV.  He also serves as an advisor to government leaders and Heads of Royal Houses.  His family are proprietors of the fashion label Lafayette 148 NY with operations in New York City and China. 

When time permits, he enjoys supporting various charities/organizations, snowboarding, traveling and walks with his two Corgis (a Cardigan and Pembroke).  Prince Michael is fluent in Spanish, Chinese and English.  He was awarded a second degree (Nidan) black belt in Jujutsu by the International Bujutsu University - Imperial Temple of Japan.
